An all volunteer organization of professionals and avocationalists dedicated to the conservation, preservation, site documentation, site monitoring, education about, and management of rock art sites in the northern Sierra Nevada and beyond.
FSRA conducts a site monitoring program in cooperation with the Tahoe National Forest, sponsors site recording projects,
and conducts other conservation and advocacy activities.
Founded in 1991, FSRA is dedicated to and promotes a preservationist and conservationist ethic in regard to rock art and all other archaeological resources.
As well as doing public education, we work with branches of the United States Forest Service (USFS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM),
American Indian groups, and other community agencies/organizations to help protect and study rock art sites.

Desde 1970 el Grupo de Investigacion de Arte Rupestre Indigena -GIPRI- ha venido investigando las
manifestaciones artisticas rupestres en el altiplano Cundiboyacense y region central de Colombia,
tiempo durante el cual ha logrado desentraņar parte de este legado estetico precolombino
(mas de 700 zonas) que se hallaba perdido o en el peor de los casos en alto riego de ser destruido.
En la actualidad, y como resultado de este amplio proceso, GIPRI adelanta,
dentro del Plan Nacional de investigaciones de Arte Rupestre, diversas labores de registro y divulgacion.
Since 1970 the Investigational Group of Indigenous Rock Art - GIPRI-
has been investigating rock art in the Cundiboyacense Plateau and the central region of Colombia,
during which time GIPRI has managed to detail part of this pre-Columbian esthetic legacy
(more than 700 sites) that had been lost, or in the worst case, was at high risk of being destroyed.

Rock Art 2002
Although not an association open to membership, the annual rock art meeting
hosted annually in San Diego by the Museum of Man is an important symposium
for presenting research on rock art (and sometimes 'what i did for summer vacation').
Organized by Ken Hedges, Curator of Anthropology and a founding member of ARARA,
the meeting is held annually on the first Saturday in November (2 Nov 2002).
Papers run from 8:30am to 5pm, with a wine & cheese reception in the evening,
and admission to the museum on the day of the symposium.

Le Orme dell'Uomo (The Footsteps of Man) located in Valcamonica, Italy,
is an organization dedicated to documenting and studying Alpine Rock Art
for archaeological superintendancies, Universities and Museums.
The organization has published several books (intoductory texts for the general public,
as well as research/specialist papers) on Italian rock art. Additionally, the group
presents exhibitions, and organizes archaeological congresses and conferences.
