This newly released title details the pictographic art of the Luiseno and Cahuilla of southern California.
Filled with numerous illustrations, and many high quality color and black-and-white photographs, this book serves to educate the public as to the quality and quantity of rock art in this region.
The rock art is presented within the context of what is known about Luiseno/Cahuilla world view and ritual, citing well known published accounts.
The second half of the book is devoted to an inventory of line art illustrations of dozens of rock art sites.
Particularly useful is the cross-reference to state site trinomials in the index.
